Meghan Andrews, LCSW
The journey can feel overwhelming, confusing, scary and lonely at times; but with some support, navigating that journey can be more enjoyable and easier to navigate. It takes courage to seek out connection and support through therapy. I value the bravery and vulnerability that it takes to reach out for guidance and direction, especially when life has caused us pain or hurt in the past. Within the therapeutic process, I hope that you are able to find and learn to love your authentic self, so that you can find joy and connection within yourself and your relationships. I’m humbled and honored to walk alongside you in your journey towards healing and wholeness, providing empathy, encouragement, feedback and tools along the way. Relationships heal. Therapy is a safe place to learn what healthy and secure relationships feel like for you in your life.
I enjoy working with teenagers, parents, young adults, adults and families that are seeking to learn skills, change thoughts and behavior, feel better and heal through a secure, empathetic and trusting therapeutic relationship. I utilize a relational lens in my therapeutic approach and always center treatment on what each client needs, whether experiencing anxiety, depression, grief or loss, low self-esteem, trauma or another difficulty.
I am trained in Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, Object Relational Theory, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), Brainspotting and Narrative Therapy. I’m LGBTQ Safe Zone trained and have experience with teens and young adults that are part of the LGBTQ community.
If you are a parent looking for support, coaching, guidance and intervention for your child or teen, I empathize with how overwhelming it may feel to find the right therapeutic fit for navigating the best next steps. Please know that you are not alone, and will not be isolated in your child or teens therapeutic process with me.
Communication is key- and I will be there for you and your family to learn new skills and approaches to communicate with one another in a healthier and more effective way- to create stronger bonds and deeper trust.
I especially connect and specialize in the complications with an adopted teen or young adult, as there can often be pre-verbal trauma that your loved one may be experiencing, and unable to verbalize to you or understand themselves. Healing from pre-verbal trauma is possible and accessible. I promise to provide education, insight and resources to help you and your family better understand how adoption or early childhood trauma effects development and relationships.
