Office Policies
At Bridges Therapy and Wellness Center we believe in the importance of finding a “good fit” between you and your therapist. We will work with you from the beginning to identify which approach, and which therapist, will best meet your needs. Your first point of contact can be an initial phone consultation, with a psychologist, where your concerns can be discussed, recommendations for interventions provided, and an appointment with a therapist specializing in your concerns can be scheduled.
If you know the name of the therapist you wish to see, you may contact them directly to schedule an intake appointment. When you call the office at 703-865-4900, you can follow the voicemail prompts to be directed to the therapist’s extension to leave a message. During the hours of 12pm to 5pm daily (except Thursdays and weekends), our administrative assistant will be available to assist you directly. You can also email the therapist directly through the link on their biographical page; please be aware that we cannot guarantee confidentiality through email as a secure form of communication should you choose this option.
If you do not know which therapist is the best fit for your needs or the needs of your child and you would like to consult with a psychologist, please call our main number and our administrative staff will direct your call or press ext. 0 to leave a detailed message in the New Client voicemail and we will return your call as soon as possible.
Your first therapy appointment will be an intake appointment, generally 60 to 75 minutes in length. When scheduling for your child, the intake appointment is attended by both parents when possible and not the child unless an emergency or immediate need situation. The intake appointment focuses on gathering background information, discussing concerns, and making initial treatment recommendations as well as answering questions and completing paperwork. The subsequent appointment for your child can be scheduled within the same week if needed. Individual therapy appointments for any age can vary from 45 to 60 minutes depending on the needs of the client.
Please see our Psychiatry page for information regarding psychiatry intakes, consultations and medication management/follow up appointments.
Bridges Therapy and Wellness Center is committed to providing the best care to all clients, without the intrusion of a third-party dictating service requirements. Therefore, we are a private pay, fee-for-service, out-of-network (OON) practice and we do not participate as a provider with any insurance company. Prior to the start of any service, all fees will be made clear and agreed upon on our Financial Agreement form, and if appropriate or requested, on a Good Faith Estimate form. All fees are due in full at the time of service provision. We accept checks, cash, and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard and Discover) for payment. In addition, most services provided by Bridges Therapy and Wellness Center are allowed to use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) for payment.
REIMBURSEMENT
Most clients are eligible to receive reimbursement for many mental health services through their insurance company with the amount based on the specific insurance plan. In support of those who wish to seek insurance reimbursement, we provide the documentation and billing information needed on a “Superbill” for clients to independently submit to their insurance company for reimbursement of out-of-network services. Please be aware those individuals with Tricare, Medicare and those with most HMOs, such as Kaiser Permanente, are often unable to receive reimbursement for OON mental health services. We encourage everyone to check with their insurance company to fully understand all out-of-network benefits and the reimbursement process.
FEES
Our fees are based on clinician expertise, education and experience. Because we employ practitioners with varying degrees and certifications, educational backgrounds and years of experience, we have variability in fees. You are welcome to call our office at 703-865-4900 to learn more about the appropriate therapist fit for you or your child’s needs, and the rates you can expect.
If you feel it is unsafe to travel to an appointment due to inclement weather or road conditions, please let your therapist know as soon as possible so that the they can adjust their schedule accordingly or change the appointment to meet virtually. If you cancel the appointment for the reason of inclement weather or road conditions within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment there is no late cancellation fee. A missed appointment fee will be charged if you do not show up for your appointment and you do not contact your therapist.
