Appropriate for: Clinical Psychology Students (Psy. D/Ph.D)
Trainees are required to commit at least two days per week. Expect to work 16 hours per week; some hours may need to be scheduled evenings or weekends to accommodate patient needs. All externs must be available for a training/group supervision meeting once a week. Additional supervision hours will be scheduled individually. There is some flexibility in scheduling.
While all trainees with at least one year of prior clinical experience may apply, trainees with at least two years of clinical experience (1 practicum, 1 externship) are preferred. Basic testing coursework is required and psychological testing experience is preferred; training is tailored to the individual level of experience of each student.
Trainees at all levels are welcome to apply – At least two years of clinical experience is preferred, psychological testing experience is a plus.
No; however, all office supplies, therapy materials, office furniture, front office staff support, email/phone, and office space will be provided. Also, some assistance with paying for therapy items or trainings may be included.

In person interviews will be offered to appropriate candidates. Applicants will be notified about interviews via email. Offers to applicants will be made according to Consortium guidelines, when applicable.
Externs will have intensive training in psychological/psychoeducational assessment, with an ethnically and economically diverse population as well as psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and/or adults. All externs will treat at least eight to ten patients (children, adolescents, adults) weekly in ongoing individual therapy for the year, in addition to completing approximately five detailed and comprehensive testing evaluations. Conducting group therapy (co-led with another clinician), couples therapy, and family therapy are also options that can be provided, if desired.
Externs will participate in weekly individual supervision sessions, weekly group supervision sessions, and testing supervision. Didactic seminars may be included in any group supervision. Externs will have the opportunity to present complex therapy and testing cases and obtain helpful feedback from supervisors, staff psychologists, and co-externs.
Bridges Therapy and Wellness Center is a private practice that offers comprehensive mental health services to its population. Services include individual therapy, group and family therapy, couples therapy, psychological/psychoeducational testing, and psychiatric services. All age groups are served. Psychologists and social workers utilize many different therapeutic orientations/skills including but not limited to family systems, CBT, DBT, psychodynamic, EMDR, ERP, mindfulness, and attachment theory.
